Introducing the Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Kids
The Next Big Thing in Kids Tablets?
If Samsung wasn’t already doing so well in selling tablets they are definitely going to get a boost by introducing the Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Kids version. It is just one of four versions they have built including the 7, 8, and 10″ models.
I expect to see other big name companies to follow suit and tackle this ever growing market of kids tablets. Google and Amazon have already added parental controls to their tablets but not all of them are durable enough for younger kids.
Samsung has made a more durable child friendly model that is not necessarily as powerful as the other models but has components and apps targeting kids needs. Although it is not as fast as the iPad or as defined as the Nexus it is definitely better for the 5 to 12 year old range.
Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Kids Specs
The new child friendly model is going to run the 4.1 Android Jelly Bean OS with parental controls that focus on time management and limiting apps available to children that the parents have preselected to be in their profile. It is going to have a dual core 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. You will 8 GB of internal memory and expandable SD memory slot to increase storage. It will also have 2 cameras like the other Galaxy Tabs with the front being 1.3 MP and the rear being 3 MP. It will have a 7″ 1024 x 600 resolution screen. They have also buffed up the exterior to make it more durable for kids.
It will come preloaded with some educational apps, games, and ebooks for children. I expect most of these are going to be lite versions or other free apps. You will be able to get more apps via the kids store.
Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Release Date
The expected release is early in September for the Korean based company and then subsequently to the rest of the world. You can expect to see it in stores anytime from late September or early October. Although a price has not been set I would expect to see a comparable price tag to the Galaxy tabs of around $200-$300.
How Will it Compare to Other Kids Tablets
A lot of other kids tablets like Meep and Kurio tried to come out with a $300 price tag and failed but the Samsung company has been very successful in launching their tablets and phones in the US. With a good track record for producing some of today’s hottest technology when introducing the Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Kids model it is going to be a best seller this Christmas.
It has all of the features and specs of the current best kids tablets like the Nabi 2 and Kindle Fire HD but I’m waiting to see how they are going to make it stand out from the ever growing crowd of kids tablets.
You will see a full review of this new tablet as soon as I can get my hands on one of them. If your a fan of the Kindle Fire there are also rumors of a 3rd generation being launched very soon and I expect them to launch with plenty of time before Christmas.
